Question 01: What Do You Want Me To Do For You?

This post is the first in a series where I’m sharing questions Jesus asked. Here’s how it all started.

Matthew 20:32

It’s a story about Jesus leaving a city called Jericho. As a large crowd follows behind, two blind men cry out to Jesus. Despite push-back from the crowd, they cry out again. & This time louder. Jesus stops. He calls to them & asks:

what do you want me to do for you?

Their reply, “we want our sight”. Having compassion for them, Jesus touched their eyes & immediately they received their sight & followed him.

In context, this question might seem surprising — obviously the blind men wanted their sight restored. What I love is that in asking this question, Jesus was offering them whatever they wanted. & He gave them the moment & opportunity to think about it.

What’s not surprising? —The Lord would ask a question that gets right at the heart & reveals all of its hidden desires.

Imagine Jesus asking you this question.
What do you want me to do for you?

I hope so much we have a good answer. One that reflects His will for our life & not what’s worldly in our heart.

LINER NOTE:

It was a test of faith.
