4: Moving Forward

shownotes

About this episode

Most of us walk around in way that the world is happening TO US. Join Brooke as she challenges herself & all of us to consider how we might live in the authority given to us to do our part. We’re taking ownership of our faith, gaining some momentum, & using Newton’s laws of motion to remind us that we will put our spiritual life in motion. Or we won’t. Here’s to moving forward.

SCRiptures

Genesis 1

The grass fades & flowers fall, but the Word of the Lord remains forever. Isaiah 40:8

It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! I say, “The Lord is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24

All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

HELPFUL Explanations:

When we are justified by the blood of Christ, we are saved from sins penalty.

As we are being sanctified, we are being saved from sins power.

When we are glorified, we are finally & fully saved from sins presence.

THIS WEEK’S ACTION STEPS:

  1. Make the effort to be an object in motion.

  2. Reflect on what direction you’re going. If you were to continue in the direction you’re going now, where are you going to end up? What would it look like for you to shift? Get the ball moving? & What internal & external forces are you up against?

  3. We can be mature by making decisions based on truth & not feelings. Decide on some “good-for-you habits”

GOOD FOR YOU HABITS:

If we want to love God, we’ve got to make every effort to feed or grow our faith.

How can we do this?

My encouragement to you would be to think through the daily, weekly, monthly &/or quarterly rhythms that help you experience closeness with God. Here’s the catch, you have to do it in a way that’s LIFE GIVING for YOU.

Because what’s life giving for me may not be life giving for you.

Here's one version of my personal rhythms so you can get an idea of what habit might be good for you to begin & continue… once a day, once a week, once a month:

  • Daily — Before bed, I have a quiet reflection & quickly note answers to 6 questions to help me process the day. Daily, I try to go for a walk, get outside, look up at the sky, & feel the sun. During this time, I may listen to the bible, pray, or listen to music. As I walk, I remember He’s walking me Home. I remember we’re in this together.

  • Weekly — I have a Bible reading plan or study of one book of the Bible I’m working through, prayer journal prompts from my prayer journal + listen to podcasts & read books throughout the week.

  • Monthly — I schedule intentional time to recenter using my Powersheets.

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.
