Action Steps to Fight Anxiousness

Whatever place I’m in, I want to do it well. Whether a moment or season, I have an inner knowing that whatever I’m facing will come to pass. & Some emotions, like fear, are only experienced on this side of Heaven. How you do hard times matter. & Like you, I want to look back & be pleased with how I handled them.

Here are a few action steps I’ve learned to practice so I can proactively overcome the moments when my heart quickens.

1. Pray

The moment you feel it. Name the anxiousness. Say it in your head. Say it out loud. & then pray, “God, fight my physical fear & anxiety. There’s not much I can do. Thank you for making me brave.”

Ask for wisdom. Ask for practical ways to move forward.

2. Remember His Promises

Who He is. How good He is. How faithful & steadfast He is. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Recite the song. Recite the scriptures you know.

The opposite of fear is trust.

3. Love

Find the love behind your fear. Whatever is making your heart anxious indicates something deeper. Something you love. List what you love.

4. Stand Firm

Serve. Engage in something else for someone else. Learn. Listen to a podcast or worship music. Read a book. Take a walk outside. Take your next step.
